Children's Day

May 5th was Children’s Day in Japan. On this day, the children who visited the Belgian pavillion got the chance to experience bobbin lacemaking. The children were very careful with the bobbins because this was a new experience to them. The lacemakers helped the children, guiding their small hands holding the bobbins. Maybe some of these children will become interested in lacemaking because of this experience. Looking at the earnest manner of the child in the photograph, this could certainly be true.
