ORIGINAL LACE ACCESSORIES

For many centuries, lace was the status symbol for the European royals and nobles. Diane Claeys created an elegant way of wearing lace. Her daughter, Nathalie, as a jeweller, assisted Diane by designing the exclusive and original accessories which contain antique and handmade lace. As Diane Claeys has a rich knowledge and a longtime experience in the history of lace, she can guarantee the authenticity of each piece of lace.

The birth of the original lace brooch designed

by Diane Claeys

The lace background of Diane Caeys goes back many generations. Her family cherished and collected lace.
Even in times when people thought lace was no longer fashionable or needed, her family took care and made effort to conserve as much as possible.
Their aim was to maintain the art and culture of lace.

My grandmother had a lace shop and was a passionate lace collector.
I promised my grandmother to share the historical value of lace with many people all over the world.

When grandmother passed away, she left some of her jewelry to me. One silver brooch had a miniature of the Holy Mary painted on ivory. Grandmother used to wear this brooch. I treasured this brooch already when I was child. I felt great respect for the image of the Holy Mary.
Every day, grandmother asked the protection of the Holy mother for her family of twelve children. She entrusted her family to the grace of the Holy Mary.
My grandmother was a very religious person. She always told me that whatever I would do in life that I should never neglect the belief in the connection with kamisama.

I often thought about my grandmother's wish: make sure that people will never forget the splendour of lace! These words stayed in my head. Sometimes I hoped that in my prayers grandmother would direct me to a solution.

One day, together with my husband, we were looking at the brooch with the Holy Mary I inherited from my grandmother. Suddenly I understood why grandmother wanted me to have this brooch and asked me to take care of it. Finally, I got her message.
I realized that when I took out the image of the Holy Mary and put lace instead, it would be a perfect opportunity to wear antique lace for everyone.

Exquisite laces were made to please the owner and the lacemakers were proud they could make the laces.
Of course lacemaking was and is a hard job but it is always done to reach satisfaction and delight. Grandmother worked hard but never complained as she was convinced that she made beauty for the future.

Together with my husband Erwin and daughter Nathalie we started to design brooches. Our aim is to make people happy by sharing our love for lace. Every owner is aware that they carry a piece of history. The tradition of lace goes on.

Grandmother, I really thank you.

Grandmother I thank you deeply to bless me with a brilliant profession.
People who can join the wonderful world of lace will enjoy
the grace and charm of it. It will enrich your mind and soul.
